Spain's Toledo and Granada unveil heritage‑based housing developments

The regional government of Castilla‑La Mancha, represented by Education, Culture and Sports councilor Amador Pastor, laid the first stone of the Alamillos del Tránsito project in Toledo. The initiative will rehabilitate a disused building in the historic centre into 28 rental apartments for young people, add 70 parking spaces and involve an investment of more than one million euros. It is part of the Toledo Emerge programme, which aims to regenerate historic urban areas through collaboration between administrations.

In Andalusia, the regional housing minister Rocío Díaz announced the construction of 555 new homes in the Los Mondragones area of Granada, of which 362 will be protected units integrated with a major archaeological complex. The project seeks to preserve the Roman‑era site while delivering much‑needed housing, illustrating a model where heritage conservation and urban development are pursued together.
