Spain's towns roll out itinerant art exhibitions for local artists

The Popular Party (PP) in the municipality of Siero has put forward a proposal to create an annual, itinerant exhibition of visual arts for amateur artists. The plan would rotate works through the town’s network of municipal cultural centres, with an open call each year covering painting, sculpture, photography and other non‑professional disciplines, aiming to give local talent public exposure and enliven community spaces.

In Extremadura, the sixth edition of the PueblArte circuit will bring contemporary art to six municipalities in the province of Badajoz—Usagre, Atalaya, Medina de las Torres, Manchita, Don Álvaro and Vivares. Ten artists will present works ranging from graffiti and photography to oil painting, music, urban sketching and wood sculpture, accompanied by jazz and swing performances. The pieces will be displayed in public spaces for two weeks before becoming part of the towns’ cultural heritage.
