Spain's UNINDE delays on‑campus launch as UNED rolls out first joint European degree

The Universidad Internacional para el Desarrollo (UNINDE), the first private university in Extremadura, announced that its on‑campus bachelor's programmes will not begin until the 2027‑2028 academic year. The institution will still start offering master's programmes online in the first quarter of 2027, after receiving ANECA approval for all proposed degrees, including health‑related fields such as Psychology, Physiotherapy and Nursing. UNINDE aims to keep Extremadura students locally and attract learners from other regions, planning a new campus in Badajoz.

Separately, the UNED Centre in La Palma launched the first joint international degree offered by the OpenEU alliance – a collaborative programme between UNED, the Open Universiteit (Netherlands) and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. The fully online, English‑taught Bachelor in Software Development, worth 180 ECTS credits, will begin classes on 23 September, with enrollment now open for students in the Canary Islands and elsewhere in the EU.
