Spanish regions publish 2026 teacher placement lists
The education ministries of Extremadura, Andalusia and the Canary Islands have released their 2026‑27 teacher placement results.
Extremadura’s Consejería de Educación and Formación Profesional published the definitive list of destinations for roughly 6,800 non‑university teachers on 31 July. Most teachers will start on 1 September, with an exception for posts linked to reinforcement programmes that begin on 1 October.
In Andalusia, the Junta confirmed that all teacher destinations have been assigned and will be posted on Friday after a brief website slowdown. Teachers were able to submit their two‑province preferences by 1 July, with the administration allocating any missing choices alphabetically.
The Canary Islands’ Consejería de Educación announced that 870 teachers secured positions after the 2026 competitive exams, covering 99.6 % of the teacher posts. However, 73 secondary‑teaching posts remained vacant and more than 600 successful candidates were left without a placement, a situation described by the ministry as “overbooking”.
