Spain's Valencia Metrovalencia and Torrelavega Bus Network set for major upgrades
Metrovalencia is advancing the construction of two new tram lines – Line 11, which will link the City of Arts and Sciences area with the Grao maritime district, and Line 12, which will extend service to the La Fe University Hospital and surrounding neighbourhoods such as Malilla, Fuente de San Luis and Na Rovella. A proposal to create a further Line 14 is also being debated, aiming to connect the metropolitan towns of Xirivella, Alaquàs, Aldaia, Mislata and the Barrio del Cristo, an area of more than 100,000 residents that currently lacks metro service.
In Torrelavega, the municipal government will modify the Torrebús network before the upcoming Virgen Grande festival. Line 2 will be extended to the Barrio de Hoz in Viérnoles, increasing frequency and connectivity. Line 4 will be adjusted to improve links with the Renfe station and the Tanos‑Viérnoles industrial area. Line 5 will gain a new stop on Avenida de Cantabria near the Hospital Comarcal de Sierrallana, and timetables for lines 5 and 6 will be revised to enhance punctuality. Councilor Jezabel Tazón said, "Seguimos trabajando para mejorar el Torrebús y adaptarlo a las necesidades reales de los vecinos".
