Spain’s vehicle‑renting sector reaches 52% share of enterprise market in H1 2026
The Spanish vehicle‑renting market recorded 204,420 new registrations in the first half of 2026, a 10.76% increase over the same period a year earlier. Renting accounted for 26.69% of all new vehicle registrations and held a 51.97% share of the enterprise channel, rising to 48.16% of total corporate registrations for the semester. Companies in the sector invested €5.082 billion in new vehicles, a 20.56% rise year‑on‑year, and 31,283 of the rented cars were electrified, representing 15.3% of the sector’s fleet.
Summer travel patterns show that 80.6% of Spaniards plan to use a private car for their holidays, with 89.1% preferring their own vehicle. Nearly half will drive between 500 and 1,000 km, and 25.6% expect trips over 1,000 km despite higher fuel costs. To meet the seasonal surge in mobility needs, firms are turning to flexible renting solutions that provide predictable monthly fees and avoid large upfront investments, helping maintain operations during peak periods.
