Spain's Vertebra Dansa festival and Espluga dance school excel at international competitions

The Vertebra Dansa festival returned to Tortosa, featuring more than 150 professional dancers from up to eight nations and about 200 amateur participants. Organized by local choreographer Roberto Olivan, the event offered workshops and performances across the city’s auditoria, squares and parks, with municipal officials praising its cultural impact.

At the same time, the Escola de Dansa del Casal de l'Espluga de Francolí sent nine students to the Dance World Cup finals in Dublin, Ireland. Competing among over 11,500 dancers from every continent, the Espluga team achieved several top‑10 placements, including an 8th‑place finish. Their routines were created by Catalan choreographers and directed by dancer‑director Jèssica Estadella, underscoring Spain’s strong presence in the international contemporary‑dance scene.
