Spain's Villamayor Short Film Festival Gains Goya Qualifier Status

The 19th edition of the Festival Europeo de Cortometrajes Villamayor (FEC), held in Villamayor de Santiago, Cuenca, has been granted Goya‑qualifying status for the Best Short Fiction and Best Short Documentary categories. The announcement, made at the Provincial Council of Cuenca, was attended by Culture Deputy Marian Martínez, Castilla‑La Mancha Culture Coordinator Yolanda Rozalén, and festival director Javier Alonso, who highlighted the two‑decade effort that led to the recognition.

The upcoming 18th edition of the Festival de Televisión de Vitoria‑Gasteiz (FesTVal), scheduled for 7‑12 September 2026, will host a slate of high‑profile TV premieres and pre‑premieres, including RTVE’s "Rojo sobre blanco", Mediaset España’s "Marusía. Vientos de Honor", Atresmedia’s "A la deriva", and the documentary series "Euskal Herria Hegan" on ETB2. The festival will also debut the new television channel LA SÉPTIMA, presenting its full programming lineup. Additional featured content includes pre‑premieres of "Las hijas de la criada", "MasterChef Celebrity Legends", and the third edition of "Supervivientes All Stars".
