Spain's Vox gains Senate seats and pushes for influence in Andalusian parliamentary board

Two additional Vox senators entered Spain’s Senate, doubling the party’s representation from two to four seats after agreements with the People’s Party in Extremadura and Aragón. The Senate was forced to rearrange the hemicycle, moving the new Vox members to sit beside the Socialist deputies in the central column and creating extra mixed‑group seats, bringing Vox close to the threshold needed to form its own parliamentary group.

In the Andalusian regional parliament, the first plenary session on 11 June will elect a seven‑member Mesa that controls legislative agenda. The People’s Party, lacking an absolute majority, needs Vox’s support to confirm President Juanma Moreno’s investiture. Vox currently holds the third vice‑presidency and is negotiating for additional board posts and a designated regional senator, while the PP risks losing the Mesa presidency if a deal is not reached.
