Spain and France gear up for World Cup 2026 semifinal in Dallas

Spain arrives in Dallas with a fully fit squad, including 19‑year‑old forward Lamine Yamal, who recovered from a thigh injury and was named player of the match in the 4‑0 win over Saudi Arabia. Coach Luis de la Fuente held the team’s first full‑strength training at the Cotton Bowl, noting the defensive solidity that has allowed Spain to concede only one goal in the tournament.

France, led by Didier Deschamps, entered the match unbeaten with 16 goals scored in six games. Defender Ibrahima Konaté publicly dismissed Yamal’s remarks that the French should fear Spain, urging humility and focus ahead of the game.

The semifinal is scheduled for Tuesday, 14 July, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with the winner advancing to the final against the victor of the Argentina‑England match. Broadcast plans include live coverage on major networks in France and Spain.

The Spanish Football Federation also invited the 2010 World Cup‑winning squad and senior club presidents to attend the match, underscoring the historic significance of a potential second Spanish title. Barcelona president Joan Laporta, present in Dallas, reiterated the club’s transfer ambitions while watching the semifinal.

Travel disparities were highlighted: Spain covered approximately 17,000 km across the tournament, while France’s journey was about 6,000 km, reflecting differing logistical challenges.
