SPAK investigates businessman Ron Yeffet over KAYO arms allegations

The Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) has conducted searches at the residence of businessman Ron Yeffet in Pellumbas as part of an ongoing investigation into the state-owned company KAYO. The investigation follows allegations of illegal arms trafficking and audio recordings released by former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj.

Gazment Bardhi, head of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, has criticized the ruling majority for allegedly obstructing discussions regarding the company’s activities. Bardhi noted that the opposition’s request for an investigative commission into KAYO was not approved during the Conference of Chairmen on September 17, 2026. He argued that the parliamentary majority is attempting to avoid the topic following the recent SPAK raids.

Bardhi also raised questions regarding the relationship between businessman Ron Yeffet and Prime Minister Edi Rama, citing reports about Yeffet’s potential interest in establishing an arms factory in Africa. He called on Speaker of the Parliament Niko Peleshi to ensure the rights of the parliamentary minority and the proper functioning of the institution as the legal deadline for discussing the matter approaches on October 5, 2026.
