Spanish actor Manolo Solo dies at 62

Spanish actor Manolo Solo died on 30 July at the age of 62. Solo, born Manuel Jesús Fernández Serrano in Algeciras, was a prolific figure in Ibero‑American cinema and theatre, appearing in around 150 productions including "Tarde para la ira" (for which he won the 2017 Goya for Best Supporting Actor), "El laberinto del fauno", "Celda 211", and the series "La peste".

Following his death, the Movistar+ series "Anatomía de un instante", directed by Alberto Rodríguez, has been highlighted as a tribute to Solo’s performance as General Gutiérrez Mellado during the 23‑F coup attempt. The series, already praised for its historical drama, now carries added emotional weight as audiences revisit Solo’s understated yet powerful portrayal.
