Spanish agencies identify Agritech and investment opportunities in Mexico and China
Spanish institutions ICEX and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) have identified significant growth opportunities for Spanish Agritech companies in the Chinese and Mexican markets. Under the ‘Spain Food Nation’ initiative, experts highlighted a rising demand for innovation in aquaculture, animal genetics, and field technology to improve production efficiency and food security.
In China, the focus is on modernizing the aquaculture sector, which accounts for nearly 40% of global production, and advancing animal genetics. Meanwhile, in Mexico, more than 300 companies are seeking to diversify their export markets toward Europe to reduce reliance on the United States. Mexican agro-industrial leaders are looking to expand exports of processed goods, such as juices, coffee, and cocoa, while exploring technological partnerships with European firms to enhance local production capabilities.
