Spanish agricultural groups seek aid amid falling profitability

Agricultural organizations in Spain are calling for financial support to combat declining profitability in the farming sector.

In the Valencian Community, LA UNIÓ Llauradora has requested extraordinary aid from the regional government. The proposal includes 1,000 euros per farm plus 300 euros per hectare, capped at 6,000 euros per beneficiary. The group cites rising production costs, adverse weather, and low grape purchase offers as primary concerns. Data shows the region has lost over 5,000 hectares of vineyard area—an 8.3% decrease—between 2015 and 2025.

In Navarre, the UAGN (Unión de Agricultores y Ganaderos de Navarra) is urging the regional government to allocate a portion of its projected 570 million euro surplus for 2025 toward agricultural investment projects. The organization emphasizes that rising costs for fertilizers, energy, fuel, and machinery are severely impacting the sector's ability to cover production expenses.
