Spanish AI labour discussions call for employer training and address gender gap

Celia Ferrero, vice‑president of the Spanish autonomous workers federation (ATA), urged that artificial‑intelligence and digital‑skills training be extended to employers as well as employees. Speaking at a European Commission‑hosted tripartite seminar on algorithmic work management, she highlighted that 93 % of European firms are micro‑SMEs with fewer than ten staff and need guidance on selecting AI tools, risk assessment, data protection and cyber‑security. Ferrero called for stronger social dialogue, collective bargaining and training for managers to ensure responsible AI deployment.

At the Forum Empresa e Inteligencia Artificial in Vigo, Lourdes Guerra, president of INEO, warned that the proportion of women in technology is declining, not because of a lack of interest or opportunities, and urged concrete actions to reverse the trend. Mayor Abel Caballero reinforced the city’s ambition to combine business and AI for economic growth.
