Spanish Air Force tenders €245 million global operational support contract

The Spanish Ministry of Defense has launched a tender for a framework agreement to provide global operational support for the Spanish Air and Space Force's aircraft fleet. The contract is estimated to be worth 245 million euros, with a base tender budget of 140 million euros excluding taxes.

Scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027, the agreement aims to ensure the full operability of military aircraft worldwide, including at civilian airports and allied military bases where the Spanish Armed Forces may lack their own personnel or equipment. The services will cover ground assistance, including engine starting systems, electricity, air conditioning, towing, parking, hangarage, and airport fee payments, as well as fuel management and crew accommodation.

A key user of these services will be Wing 45, which is responsible for high-confidentiality missions such as international official transfers for the Spanish Royal House and government members. The contract will support a diverse fleet, including Airbus A310, A400M, and A330 aircraft, Falcon 900 and CN-295 planes, and helicopters such as the Chinook, Super Puma, and NH-90.
