Spanish Air Force to conduct missile tests in Gulf of Cádiz

The Spanish Air and Space Force will conduct the Atlante 26 training exercise in the Gulf of Cádiz from September 13 to 18. The maneuvers involve advanced combat training using real air-to-air and air-to-surface weaponry.

Operating primarily from the Morón de la Frontera Air Base, the exercise will utilize F-18 and Eurofighter jets. The El Arenosillo Experimentation Center (CEDEA), operated by the National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA), will play a strategic role by controlling semi-autonomous aerial and maritime targets and coordinating various participating units.

The program includes air-to-air cannon fire against drone-towed targets, missile launches against aerial objectives, and air-to-surface attacks against naval targets. Additionally, the exercise will feature C-UAS missions focused on the identification, tracking, and neutralization of drones. Multiple wings and the Paratrooper Sapper Squadron (EZAPAC) are scheduled to participate.
