Spanish airports report varying performance in punctuality and seasonal capacity
A recent analysis by AirHelp regarding the third quarter of 2026 indicates that several Spanish airports struggled with punctuality. Reus Airport and Barcelona-El Prat recorded punctuality rates of 64% and 65% respectively, both falling below the national average of 70%. Other airports with low punctuality rates during this period included Palma (59%), Ibiza (64%), and Alicante-Elche (66%). In contrast, Asturias, Bilbao, and Santiago de Compostela led the national rankings with punctuality rates of 84%, 81%, and 80%.
Meanwhile, Córdoba Airport is entering its winter season with 152 scheduled flights and over 23,000 available seats across two regular routes: Binter to the Canary Islands and Vueling to Barcelona. Despite previous growth, the winter schedule shows a nearly 17% decrease in seats compared to the previous campaign. This reduction is attributed to Vueling adjusting its operations due to aircraft shortages and high fuel costs, resulting in fewer connections between Córdoba and Barcelona during certain months.
