Spanish archaeological sites nominated for Historia National Geographic awards

Several Spanish archaeological sites and monuments have been nominated for the third edition of the +Historia Awards, organized by Historia National Geographic. The awards feature categories such as Best National Historical Discovery and Best Conservation of a Monumental Complex, with winners to be determined by public vote until October 12.

In the category of Best Conservation of a Monumental Complex, the historic center of Toledo is a nominee, recognized for ongoing restoration and preservation efforts to protect its architectural and landscape heritage.

The category for Best National Historical Discovery includes three major Spanish nominations: the funerary network at the Alarcos Archaeological Park in Ciudad Real, which has documented nearly a hundred tombs; the Cova de les Dones in Valencia, a Roman sanctuary discovered 200 meters deep within a cave; and the Ses Fontanelles Roman shipwreck in Mallorca. Other competitors include the funerary epigraphic collection in Cádiz and a prehistoric bead collection from Montelirio.
