Spanish architectural initiatives focus on urban wellbeing and building rehabilitation

Various architectural and urban planning initiatives in Spain are addressing social wellbeing and infrastructure needs. In El Recuenco, Guadalajara, the CSCAE Observatory 2030 project ‘Primum Non Nocere’ held a participatory workshop to explore how physical spaces, such as streets and natural environments, influence mental and social health.

In Madrid, the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) has launched a call for 16 local projects to be featured in the ‘Foro Urbano Madrid2050’ exhibition. The initiative aims to highlight urban interventions that promote inclusive, safe, and sustainable cities.

Additionally, the ‘RehabilitAcción Ciudadana’ project, led by the CSCAE and the CEAV, conducted a workshop in Badalona focused on building rehabilitation. The event addressed the challenges of aging building stocks and the need for faster administrative processes and aid to improve structural safety and accessibility.
