Spanish Armed Forces conduct southern defense exercises

The Spanish Armed Forces are conducting a series of military exercises in southern Spain to strengthen the National Air Defense System. These maneuvers, including the 'Eagle-Eye' operation, involve approximately 1,800 personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The Eagle-Eye exercise, centered in Málaga and the Alboran Sea, utilizes six F-18 fighter jets, an anti-aircraft unit, and a naval frigate. Additionally, the Atlante 2026 maneuvers involve F-18 and Eurofighter jets conducting live-fire tests in the Gulf of Cádiz from the Morón air base.

Other tactical deployments include the Coast Artillery Regiment 4 setting up maritime surveillance in the Bay of Cádiz and the deployment of the Navy frigates Navarra and Cristóbal Colón. These activities aim to improve coordination, interoperability, and rapid response capabilities against potential threats.
