Spanish art exhibitions honor painters Pau Boada and José Benlliure
Several art exhibitions are opening in Spain to honor the works of historical painters. In Vilafranca del Penedès, two exhibitions dedicated to Pau Boada will commence on October 2 at the Sant Joan chapel and the Espai Cultural Fòrum Berger Balaguer. Organized to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the artist's death, the project aims to recover the legacy of a creator deeply linked to the local culture of the 20th century. Boada's diverse body of work includes easel paintings, decorative panels, murals, stained glass, mosaics, and graphic illustrations.
In Gandia, the Museu de Santa Clara will host the exhibition ‘El Poverello d’Assís sota la mirada de José Benlliure’, opening October 1. The project recovers a Franciscan cycle created by the Valencian painter approximately a century ago. A total of 66 works from the Sant Esperit de Gilet convent are involved in the project: eight will be displayed at the Museu de Santa Clara, focusing on Saint Clare and female religious communities, while the remaining 58 will be shown at the Casa Museu Benlliure in Valencia. The exhibition coincides with the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.
