Isabel Fernández wins Calderón de la Barca 2026 Theater Prize

Playwright and scenic creator Isabel Fernández González has been awarded the 2026 Calderón de la Barca Prize for Novel Authors. The award recognizes her work ‘Campo de fuerzas’, which explores themes of failure, returning to the family home, feminism, and the tension between rural and urban life.

The prize includes 10,000 euros and the publication of the work. The jury, led by Javier Monsalve, praised the play for its sensitivity and its formal risk in creating a plurality of voices emanating from the protagonist's consciousness.
