Spanish athletes achieve success in trial cycling and athletics

Spanish athletes achieved notable results in international competitions. In trial cycling, Dani Cegarra secured sixth place in the Elite category at the UCI European Trial Championship in Valberg, France. In the Junior category, Álvaro Micol Muñoz finished fourth after the competition was halted due to rain. Additionally, Raúl Martínez Carrasco won the 2026 World BikeTrial Cup in the Hobby 2 category, marking his third consecutive title following events in Spain and Italy.

In athletics, Spanish competitors advanced to finals during the fourth day of competition in Birmingham. Dani Arce and Alejandro Quijada qualified for the 3,000m steeplechase final, with Arce winning his heat in 8:34.47. Paula Sevilla also reached the 400m final with a personal best time of 50.21. However, the session was marred by injury as Oriol Sánchez was forced to withdraw from the 200m event due to a calf injury.
