Spanish athletes achieve success in weightlifting and mental sports
Spanish athletes achieved notable results in international competitions. Weightlifter Carlos Magallón finished eighth in the total Olympic ranking at the U-17 European Weightlifting Championships in Pristina. Magallón recorded a total of 291 kilograms, consisting of 125 kilograms in the snatch and 166 kilograms in the clean and jerk. While he expressed a desire to have reached a 310-kilogram total, his performance improved his previous record from the World Championships in Cali by one kilogram.
In London, 17-year-old Mario Hernández Concepción earned multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Mind Sports Olympiad. Competing in various strategy and mental sports disciplines, including Blokus, Mastermind, and Carcassonne, he has now accumulated a total of 41 medals throughout his participation in the event.
