Spanish athletes compete at European Athletics Championships
Spanish athletes faced mixed results at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. In the long jump final, Lester Lescay finished in tenth place with a best jump of 7.72 meters. The competition was notably impacted by headwinds. Eusebio Cáceres was the highest-ranking Spaniard in the event, finishing seventh with a mark of 7.92 meters, while Jaime Guerra took ninth place.
In the javelin throw, Manu Quijera failed to qualify for the final. Despite recording a personal championship best of 77.40 meters on his first attempt, he finished 11th in his qualification group. Quijera noted that while he felt he competed well, he lacked the necessary effectiveness to reach the 82-meter threshold required for the final.
