Spanish athletes face tough results at European Aquatics Championships
Spanish athletes faced challenging results at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. In the high diving competition, Carlos Gimeno finished in fourth place after a mistake on his final dive. Despite leading during the penultimate round, a failure to execute a pre-established tuck position on his last attempt resulted in a loss of points, allowing Catalin Preda of Romania, Andrea Barnaba of Italy, and Gary Hunt of France to secure the podium positions.
In open water swimming, Spanish representatives Paula Otero and Mateo García also concluded their campaigns without medals. Mateo García competed in three events, including the 3K knockout, where he narrowly missed the final, and the 10km race, where he placed 17th. Paula Otero achieved the best Spanish ranking in her category, finishing 11th in the 5km event and performing strongly in the 3K knockout.
