Spanish author Luis Goytisolo dies at 91

Luis Goytisolo, a prominent figure in contemporary Spanish literature, died at the age of 91 on the 12th. He was best known for his tetralogy *Antagonía* and the novel *Estatuas con palomas*, works that have shaped the narrative of modern Spain.

Born into a well‑known literary family, Goytisolo became an orphan at three after a bombing by Francoist troops. He later joined the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) as an academician in 1994, contributing to debates on language autonomy and literary criticism. His career also included contributions to newspapers such as *El País*, *ABC*, and *Diario 16*.

His death prompted reflections on his influence on Spanish letters and his legacy as a writer who embraced a rigorous, reflective style that challenged conventional storytelling.
