Spanish authorities declare lighthouse and boat auctions void after no bids

The Almería Port Authority announced that the public auction for the former Garrucha lighthouse was declared void after the deadline passed without any sealed or public bids. The procedure, launched in February 2026 with a minimum price of €2.67 million, was formally closed by the Authority's Board on 22 June 2026 under the presidency of María del Rosario Soto and recorded in the official state gazette on 20 July 2026.

Similarly, the Cabildo of Lanzarote terminated the open‑auction process for the vessel Nuevo Santa Teresa after the offer period ended on 6 July 2026 with no proposals recorded. The boat, listed with a minimum price of €14 800 and exempt from IGIC, was officially declared desierto on 23 July 2026 by the island's Treasury and Contracts Department, and the file was archived.

Both cases illustrate the difficulty of attracting buyers for surplus public assets in Spain, leading the respective administrations to halt the sales and consider alternative disposal options.
