Spain and Colombia launch major operations against drug trafficking networks
Law enforcement agencies in Spain and Colombia have conducted several major operations targeting drug trafficking networks. In Spain, the Guardia Civil intercepted a narcolancha off the coast of Mazagón, Huelva, seizing over 3,000 kilograms of hashish and arresting eight crew members. Other Spanish operations included the dismantling of indoor marijuana plantations in Ontinyent, several 'narcoviviendas' in Pinos Puente where assault rifles and ammunition were found, and a logistics base in Conil de la Frontera used to supply high-speed boats with over 10,000 liters of gasoline.
In Colombia, the Navy and Air Force seized 3.5 tons of cocaine in the Caribbean waters of the Gulf of Urabá, resulting in five arrests. These actions highlight ongoing efforts to combat transnational organized crime and the logistical infrastructures supporting drug distribution.
In Andalusia, regional authorities have formally requested the reinstatement of the OCON-Sur specialized anti-drug unit to address rising security concerns and the increasing sophistication of criminal organizations.
