Spanish authorities seize drugs in separate operations
Spanish law enforcement agencies have conducted two distinct drug seizures in the Canary Islands.
In Gran Canaria, the National Police intercepted heroin and cocaine hidden inside the tongues of a pair of sneakers. The drugs, consisting of 7.79 grams of heroin and 9.75 grams of cocaine, were destined for the Las Palmas I prison in Salto del Negro. The discovery was made during a preventive inspection by the Special Canine Guide Unit.
In Fuerteventura, the Civil Guard arrested a man following the seizure of 354 kilograms of hashish. The operation began when a suspicious inflatable boat arrived at a beach in Antigua. Authorities intercepted a vehicle exiting the coastal area, where officers found six large bundles of hashish and several smaller packages. The suspect has been placed in preventive detention by a judge.
