Spanish bullfighting honors winners and celebrates Víctor Puerto

The third edition of the ‘Toros en El Puerto’ awards has announced its winners for the 2026 season at the Plaza Real de El Puerto de Santa María. The jury, chaired by José Luis Galloso, highlighted a season of high artistic quality and exceptional atmosphere. Key winners include Pablo Aguado, who received the award for best performance (faena) for his work on August 2, and Diego Ventura, named the best rejoneador for his performance on August 7.

Additionally, David de Miranda was honored with the Rafael Ortega award for the best estocada. The organizers noted that the season was particularly distinguished by the presence of major bullfighting figures, including Morante de la Puebla.

In Ciudad Real, the city has honored matador Víctor Puerto with a commemorative plaque at the bullring's main gate. The tribute, organized by the City Council and the Asociación Cultural Taurina Cargando La Suerte, recognizes Puerto’s 31-year professional career and his deep ties to the province as he approaches his retirement from the ring.
