Spanish businessman disappears in the Ionian Sea

Authorities are investigating the disappearance of Juan José Mutilba, a 66-year-old Spanish businessman and owner of a large drinking water dispenser company, in the Ionian Sea.

Mutilba reportedly went missing on August 18 while aboard his sailing vessel in waters between Italy and Greece. According to his 64-year-old wife, he slipped and fell overboard while cleaning a large tuna on the deck. She stated she was inside the vessel at the time and only rushed to the deck after hearing his cries.

Search efforts, conducted by Italian Coast Guard and Spanish maritime authorities, were suspended last Wednesday due to minimal hopes of finding him alive. Investigators are scrutinizing the timeline of events, specifically the three-day gap between the alleged accident on August 18 and the wife's report to Greek authorities on August 21. The wife has since returned to Madrid with her son.
