Spanish Chambers of Commerce celebrate 140th anniversary

Several Spanish Chambers of Commerce are marking their 140th anniversary, tracing their origins back to the establishment of Official Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Navigation in 1886.

The Chamber of Commerce of Cantabria is hosting an inaugural event at the Real Club Marítimo de Santander to present a commemorative program. This program focuses on business growth, innovation, local trade revitalization, and the preservation of the institution's historical legacy. The Chamber has historically supported regional economic development through market expansion, improved communications, and professional training in areas such as accounting and legislation.

Simultaneously, the Chamber of Commerce of Pontevedra, Vigo, and Vilagarcía de Arousa held a meeting of various Spanish Chambers to discuss future challenges. Led by José García Costas and José Luis Bonet, the gathering included representatives from numerous regional chambers. Discussions centered on transforming the current model into a more modern, efficient, and sustainable network, with an emphasis on mediation, internationalization, and digitalization to support the business fabric.
