Spanish Chef Karlos Arguiñano Announces Retirement from Television
Karlos Arguiñano, a leading figure in Spanish cooking television, disclosed his plans to leave the medium after nearly four decades on air. He began his TV career in 1989 on a Basque cooking program, moved to Televisión Española in 1991, and later presented on Antena 3 for about twenty years. Approaching his late seventies, Arguiñano said he may retire when he turns 78, possibly extending to age 80 or 81, depending on his health. He expressed fear of pain and suffering in old age but remains confident about the future.
His son, Joseba Arguiñano, has already taken over responsibilities on the show during the summer season and is expected to succeed him as the main host when the retirement occurs.
