Valladolid selected as EU climate-neutral smart city

Valladolid has been selected by the European Commission as one of the 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities for 2030 under the Horizon Europe program. This initiative aims to accelerate climate action and foster economic growth through public-private collaboration and job creation. The city joins other major European hubs, such as Paris, Amsterdam, and Madrid, in a mission described by the EU as comparable to the Apollo moon missions in its ambition to achieve a zero-emissions continent.

In a related development regarding urban climate innovation, the Ibercivis Foundation will participate in climate neutrality workshops organized by the Complutense University of Madrid. The event, hosted by the Neutral City-Uni Lab, focuses on integrating citizen science into urban climate innovation. Maite Pelacho, coordinator of the Citizen Science Observatory, will present on the role of social participation in designing climate transition solutions.
