Spanish cities champion organ donation and push for in‑hospital dialysis

In Ceuta, the ALCER Ceuta association organised street outreach on organ donation and called for hospital‑based dialysis for renal patients at Hospital Universitario de Ceuta. President Juan Francisco Ramírez said the proposal is now being studied, marking a step forward after years of waiting.

In Guadalajara, officials gathered at the Parque de la Concordia for a ceremony at the Tree of the Donor. Mayor Ana Guarinos and ALCER president Sonia Peñuelas highlighted that 18 people received transplants last year and stressed that organ donation “saves lives”. Leaves with thank‑you messages were placed on the tree as a symbolic tribute.

Both events underline Spain’s status as a world leader in transplantation and the ongoing effort to raise public awareness and improve patient care.
