Spanish cities expand urban summer camps to support families

The municipality of Ciudad Real continued its second‑year urban summer camp at the Finca Alarcos, hosting 52 children with activities such as a foam party, water games, workshops and movies. Youth and Childhood Councilor Pau Beltrán emphasized the program’s role in helping families balance work and childcare during the summer and pledged continued investment.

In Talavera de la Reina, the summer urban camps filled all of the roughly 750 available places for children aged 3 to 12. Mayor José Julián Gregorio and Social Affairs Councilor Pepa Blázquez highlighted the initiative as a key service that enables parents to reconcile work and family life, offering supervised recreation, educational workshops, sports and pool sessions across several local schools.
