Spanish cities host Greco-Roman cultural festivals in September

Several cultural and historical events are scheduled for September in Spain, focusing on Greco-Roman heritage.

In Almuñécar, the 18th Sexi Firmum Iulium Greco-Latin Theater Festival will take place from September 2 to 6 at the El Majuelo Park auditorium. The program includes local performances such as Euripides’s ‘Medea’ and Aristophanes’s ‘Thesmophoriazusae,’ alongside professional productions from the Mérida International Classical Theater Festival, including ‘Jason and the Furies,’ ‘Phaedra in the Underworld,’ and ‘Antigone.’

In Cartagena, the Roman Theatre Museum is hosting activities related to the Carthaginians and Romans festivals. A family-oriented program titled ‘Scipio versus Hannibal, the battle continues’ will run on Saturdays throughout September, offering children aged 6 to 12 a historical reenactment experience involving Carthaginian and Roman troops. Additionally, guided tours such as ‘From the Theatre to the Domus of the Portico’ will be available on Sundays.
