Spanish cities reinforce summer policing to improve nightlife and beach safety
Terrassa (Catalonia) will activate a special night‑time surveillance device from 19 June to 13 September 2026, redirecting police resources to areas with higher incidences of noise, alcohol consumption and public‑order problems. The plan, presented by the city’s security councillor Xavier Cardona, stresses preventive action and includes the "Cuidem la nit" awareness campaign.
In the Las Vaguadas neighbourhood of Badajoz, police proximity teams working with the local residents’ association have curbed illegal "botellón" gatherings that previously caused noise, vandalism and safety concerns. Association president Sol Cruz credited the joint police‑resident effort for restoring calm and preventing further incidents.
Cádiz’s municipal beaches will not receive local police patrols until 15 June, despite the start of the beach season on 1 June. Initially only four officers will patrol the coastline on weekdays, with limited weekend coverage, expanding to a small team in July–August before the service ends on 16 September. The launch has been delayed by the ongoing tender for a megaphone system.
These measures illustrate a coordinated push by several Spanish municipalities to strengthen public‑order policing during the busy summer months.
