Spanish climbers reach finals at World Climbing Europe Series in Žilina

Spanish climbers Aina Vila Cantero and Julia Benach Zubero reached the finals in the women's lead modality at the World Climbing Europe Series held in Žilina, Slovakia, from August 7 to 9, 2026.

Julia Benach Zubero finished in sixth place, while Aina Vila Cantero, who led the rankings during the qualifying and semifinal rounds, finished eighth. Both athletes secured their positions among the top eight in Europe in a field of over fifty participants. Other Spanish competitors included Emily Charlote Pescetto Budden in the women's category, and Raúl Escribano Sánchez, Jan Molist Domingo, Lizer Aznarez Bescos, and Lucas Pérez Nieto in the men's category.

The women's title was won by Austria's Anika Deubler, followed by Germany's Annika Müller and Ukraine's Rafael Kazbekova. In the men's category, Belgium's Nicolas Collin took first place, ahead of France's Jordi Poles and Italy's Gianluca Vighetti.
