Spanish climbers secure silver in Austria and semifinals in Slovenia
Spanish climbers achieved notable results in recent international competitions. At the World Climbing Series in Koper, Slovenia, the Spanish difficulty team reached the semifinals but failed to qualify for the Saturday grand final. In the men's category, the Spanish representatives performed solidly in the qualifiers, though the technical difficulty of the semifinals prevented them from joining the final eight dominated by Italian, Japanese, and Korean athletes. In the women's category, Itziar Martínez Almendros and Julia Benach Zubero competed in a high-level field led by Slovenia's Janja Garnbret.
In a separate event, the Spanish youth speed climbing team competed in the IFSC World Climbing Europe Youth Series in Imst, Austria. Nora García Maestu secured a silver medal in the Sub-19 female category, finishing second behind Ukraine's Mariia Shymkova. Other Spanish participants included Haizea Pinto Ilincheta, who reached the quarterfinals, and Telma Flores Yuste, who placed fourth in the Sub-17 female qualifiers.
