Spanish club Baskonia close to signing NBA guard A.J. Lawson
Spanish EuroLeague team Baskonia (Kosner Baskonia) is near finalising a deal with 26‑year‑old guard A.J. Lawson. The Canadian‑born player, who holds a Jamaican passport, previously appeared for the Toronto Raptors and their G‑League affiliate Raptors 905, and has had stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks.
Lawson played 24 NBA games, averaging 4.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in 9.4 minutes per contest, and posted 20.8 points, 5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in the G‑League. The club, according to Spanish journalist Chema de Lucas, views him as a key addition for the upcoming season and plans to build its playing philosophy around him.
The agreement is reported as advanced, with Baskonia aiming to secure the signing before the start of the EuroLeague campaign.
