Spanish clubs secure five spots in 2026/27 Champions League
Spain will have five representatives in the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Villarreal, and Real Betis. This marks the fifth time since the 2015/16 season that Spanish clubs have achieved this level of presence, aided by the extra slot granted to federations with high coefficients.
Villarreal CF has received a challenging schedule for the competition. Their campaign begins on September 8 with an away match against Borussia Dortmund, followed by home games against Napoli and away fixtures against Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. Their remaining matches include Slavia Prague, Sabah, Fenerbahce, and a final home game against Manchester United on January 27.
