Spanish clubs set Champions League record with five wins

Spanish La Liga clubs achieved an unprecedented feat during the second matchday of the UEFA Champions League, with all five representatives winning their respective matches. The participating teams—Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, and Real Betis—all secured victories, marking the first time five Spanish teams have won in the same round.

Notable results included Barcelona’s 4-1 win over Galatasaray, Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 victory against Manchester United, and Villarreal’s 3-1 win over Napoli. Real Madrid staged a significant comeback to defeat AS Roma 4-3, while Real Betis secured a 3-2 win against FC Porto. This round also set a new record for the most goals scored in a single Champions League round, with a total of 78 goals across 18 matches.

In individual milestones, Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane surpassed Lionel Messi’s record for most Champions League goals scored by a player by age 30, reaching 36 goals. Additionally, Erling Haaland became Manchester City’s all-time leading scorer in the competition.
