Spanish coastal festivals spotlight fish tapas and fried eel

The seventh edition of Vigo SeaFest took place on the promenade of Montero Ríos in Vigo, Spain. Fourteen local restaurants offered creative fish tapas at a uniform price of €5, including dishes such as a taco al pastor, a crispy hake "lasagna," and a sardine croquette with lime‑lemon aioli. The event featured a water‑polo tournament, family activities, workshops, and live music on two stages.

In the neighbouring region of Ourense, a culinary route highlights the province’s prized fried eel. Restaurants such as Outarelo in Castro de Beiro, Silvino near the Miño River, Casa Xulia in O Carballiño, Ameiral in Melón, and Catro Camiños in Santa Cruz de Arrabaldo are noted for achieving a perfectly crisp skin while keeping the meat juicy, often paired with local wines from the four Denominations of Origin of the area.
