Spanish Congress calls for railway improvements in Ferrol
The Spanish Congress has called for a comprehensive set of measures to modernize the railway service to Ferrol. Following a proposal by BNG deputy Néstor Rego, the Transport Commission has supported initiatives to improve the Ferrol-A Coruña line.
Key requested actions include the doubling of tracks, electrification, and the rectification of curves and tunnels. The proposal also urges the completion of the Betanzos variant informative study by 2026 and the signing of a construction agreement for an intermodal station involving ADIF, the Xunta de Galicia, and the Ferrol City Council.
Additionally, the measures aim to modernize the narrow-gauge line (formerly FEVE) to improve local connectivity and ensure the effective arrival of high-speed rail to Ferrol through integration with the Atlantic Axis.
