Spanish Congress honors Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba

Spanish Parliament Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba Cortes de Castilla y León political tribute ETA anniversary

The Spanish Congress of Deputies held a tribute to Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, the former PSOE leader, former Vice President, and former Minister of the Interior. The ceremony coincided with the 15th anniversary of the definitive cessation of ETA violence, a period during which Rubalcaba served as Interior Minister.

Congress President Francina Armengol honored Rubalcaba’s “political intelligence,” “capacity for work,” and “commitment to his ideals.” To commemorate his legacy, the well-known press desk within the Congress has been officially named in his honor. The event was attended by various government ministers and Rubalcaba’s widow, Pilar Goya, though the People's Party (PP) sent only one representative to the ceremony.
