Spanish Congress permanently revokes press credentials of Vito Quiles

The Spanish Congress has permanently revoked the press accreditation of political influencer Vito Quiles. The decision, reached by the Mesa of the Congress with the support of the PSOE and Sumar parties, follows the accumulation of six serious infractions. These violations included disrupting press conferences and recording unauthorized images within parliamentary buildings.

This marks the first time the Chamber has applied the maximum sanction of permanent revocation under a 2025 regulatory reform designed to prevent harassment of parliamentary representatives. Quiles, associated with the digital outlet Estado de Alarma, had previously served a three-month suspension in May.

Separately, Ada Colau, the former mayor of Barcelona, has called on the Sumar party to exit the coalition government led by Pedro Sánchez. Colau’s demand follows the eviction of an 87-year-old woman in Madrid. She argued that Sumar should not remain in a government that she claims is failing to take decisive action against real estate speculation and to protect housing rights.
