Spanish content creator Paracetamol detained for alleged hate speech

Antonio Dual Clavería, a 46-year-old content creator known as ‘Paracetamol’, has been detained in Zaragoza, Spain, by the National Police on suspicion of inciting hatred. The investigation, conducted by the Information Brigade of Madrid, focuses on viral songs shared on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.

Authorities allege that the lyrics in his videos contain messages that ridicule and disparage immigrants, the sick, and the LGBTQ+ community, using a humorous tone to potentially normalize hate speech, racism, and homophobia. Clavería denies these allegations, maintaining that his compositions are intended as humor and claiming that the very groups he is accused of attacking often request his songs.

Following his interrogation, Clavería was released provisionally and is scheduled to appear before a judge in January. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to four years. The creator noted that the legal proceedings have resulted in social media restrictions, including the blocking of his TikTok account.
